A little over a year ago, I stupidly transferred my domain to a new server host without first backing up my website. Domain transfers usually take a few days, so I confirmed the transfer, grabbed some lunch, logged onto the hosting server to be greeted by a blank screen. My domain had already been moved.
I put off creating a new website for quite a while due to other ongoing projects, but this past week, I sat down, reviewed some PHP, and created a new WordPress theme and site.
I will use this blog throughout the year to provide commentary on biblical studies and archaeology and to offer updates on some of my digital projects on which I am currently working. I have been spending a lot of time developing 3D models of ancient synagogues that will soon be accessible to navigate online via first-person playable character and also virtual reality through the HTC Vive.
After I complete some of my projects, I am hoping to begin work on some basic tutorials of how to integrate technology with archaeology to make material culture more easily accessible to the public. These tutorials will cover introductions to 3D modeling software, such as Blender and SketchUp, as well as creating navigable spaces with Unity3D.
Thank you for reading.
